There is enough tannin in this dye material so you don't have to use mordant, but alum will bring out the color if you want to work in yellows.
Use an iron after bath to get greys to the most beautiful black.

When used as a tannin mordant myrobalan requires 15-20% WOF. If using to create a soft butter yellow use 20-30% WOF.

Botanical Name: Terminalia Che. Terminalia Chebula is medium to large sized deciduous tree. Haritaki is one main key ingredient in triphala and famous rejuvenating herb. Common name of haritaki are Indian hog plum and Indian walnut. Haritaki is gentle laxative, digestive, tonic, expectorant and anti-dysentery. Myrobalan (Terminalia chebula) is a yellow color natural vegetable dye produced from the dried fruits of tree Terminalia chebula which is mainly found in the himalayas. These dried fruits are first ground into a powder form which is a rich source of tannin and can be used both as a mordant and a dye for cotton and other plant fibres.
