Come in and learn the traditional art of shibori with natural indigo dye (no chemicals!) in this beginner class.

We start learning how to begin your own indigo vat, and bit of the history of the magical natural dye. 3-5 folding, tie and binding resist techniques are shown, including Suji, Itajime, Kumo, Ne-Maki and Arashi. Select the few you're drawn to and dye some of the plain items you have lying around the house!  Each student will get to dye at least 3 pieces, either that they bring or we provide.  Bandanas are given but you are welcome and encouraged to bring in items. Clean, white or lightly colored natural fibers (such as cotton, silk, or wool) work best. Leave with one-of-a-kind fibers to keep or share!

18yr+

6 students max

Supplies provided, but students are welcome to bring natural fabrics they want to dye. An email will be sent out with signup to explain all details the week of your class.

Highly recommended!

The Shibori workshop was fun and Karin is an excellent instructor! Well prepared. I got to learn about the process and dye my own pieces to bring home. Will definitely come back again!
