We start with a a bit of history about the process and introduction to the materials, but then get right into carving! Our goal will be to repeat pattern print one yard of fabric!
Students should come with a 2.5" square image or two that you would like to work with. Simple designs work best, and then you can add detail as you carve away. If you have carved before, and are up for a challenge, mention you would like to do a two color design. Prepare artwork 1.25"x1.25" if you want to try it out.
A quick carve "Block" all tools are provided, as well as textiles samples pieces and papers. Students will get a large kitchen towel 38"x 38" and be able to print on our textile print table their repeat pattern. You are welcome to bring your own materials to print on too, as it can get pretty addictive. This class is a lot of fun, and you will be able to leave with your block, so you can continue printing on your own!
