Learn ALL in this 4 day screenprinting crash course.
Students will become extremely familiar with this print process, and learn how to create your own screens for paper, tshirt, and textile printing! The session molds to the student that takes it, so changes can be made to the syllabus so that it suits your goals.
Day 1 You don't need to bring anything the first day, but bringing the images/ideas that you want to work on or emailing them before class is great! The first session we talk about the process, get familiar with the materials and work on sample materials, and do some sample printing just so you understand the process better. We’ll end preparing your screens for the next time we meet.
Day 2 we will print a Tshirt design using the printing press. Your image (which you don't have to have finalized on your first day) can be a maximum size of 8.5"x14" and I will have 4 Tshirts for you. But you are welcome to bring up to 20.
Day 3 will be your 2 color print for paper. Also a maximum size of 8.5"x14" but working with two colors, layering the first on top of the other using a simple table press.
Day 4 is your textile yardage printing day. Your final image/pattern can be a drawing, photograph, or scanned, size up to 18" x 29”. I'll have 2 yards of natural cotton fabric (muslin) for you to print your own design. However if you have natural or blend fabric that you'd rather use, definitely bring whatever you hope to accomplish. My tabel suits 10 yards.
You won’t be able to keep the screens, just the films. If there is one you would want to take with you, let me know ahead of time so we can order a fresh screen for you. Pricing depends on the company selling them, varying on size and mesh. Which we discuss in person.
