
Henna bonds well with protein fabrics, hence is used to dye skin (mendhi). On leather, silk and wool it gives you light browns. On plant based fabrics light yellow greens.

Botanical Name: Lawsonia Inermis, also known as hina, the henna tree, the mignonette tree, and the Egyptian privet, is a flowering plant and the sole species of the genus Lawsonia. It is native to northern Africa, Asia and Australia and reddish-brown dye obtained from its leaves. It has many medicinal and cooling properties too. It is used as a coagulation for open wounds; and poultice made with henna leaves works to soothe burns and certain type of eczema.
