There are many ways to create an organic real indigo vat and it can be a little tricky, but the main barrier is confidence. If you're interested in a particular method, let me know! I'll show you how to create a fructose and an iron vat in two different ways.  We'll even make our own fructose on the side! I love to dive into the historical significance of indigo in other cultures, and will also talk a lot about it's very beginnings, how it moved into industry, how important it is in many cultures, and why it has a bit of a dark past.

A few resist techniques are shown and discuss where they are found in the word, including shibori, tie binding and wax resist (batik). Students are welcome to just dye blue though! They can also bring in pieces they worked on at home.
