PARTIES ARE BACK! Please contact for quote and date approval.
NO FOOD OR DRINK CAN BE SERVED, but I'll make it special.
This is for groups over 6 people. Private bookings of 6 and under are in the individual workshop listings.

This class is often booked for birthdays, baby showers, bridal thingy, or team building for the corporate world.

Event Description
Create your very own block pattern print away! For larger groups, I may suggest using blocks that are already prepared however.

Participants should come with a 2-4" square image or two that you would like to work with. Simple designs work best, and then you can add detail as you carve away. If you have carved before, and are up for a challenge, mention you would like to do a two color design.
A quick carve "Block" all tools are provided, as well as textiles samples pieces and papers. Participants will be provided with materials to print on of your choosing. You are welcome to bring your own materials to print on too, as it can get pretty addictive. This class is a lot of fun, and you will be able to leave with your block, so you can continue printing on your own!

Event Itinerary
1) We start with a a bit of history about the process and introduction to the materials
2) We then get right into carving out our blocks!
3) Once blocks are carved, we'll use them with our inks to create a pattern on the fabric provided.

Each guest will go home with:
A block they made during the event which can be re-used for block printing at home.
A yard of fabric and personalized items (such as Tshirts, tote, or tea towels) with their block printed pattern on it.

About the Instructor
Karin Persan is a hands on textile designer and maker, working from her studio in Brooklyn. She received her BFA in 2001 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she focused in Fiber and Material Studies. She formed her line "Better Than Jam" of printed clothing and accessories shortly after graduating, while teaching on the side. In early 2010 she opened a boutique of the same name, which grew into a communal studio space, though has since downsized into the perfect personal studio at 10m Grattan St.

About the Venue
This is the personal studio space of Karin. Much room and table space to accommodate a small crowd though 20 is the maximum suggested.
